What we find

Buried lines, found above ground.

Most underground leaks are at a joint, a fitting or a spot where the pipe rubbed on rock. Each one shows up differently, and we test for all of them.

  • Main water line to the house
  • Irrigation and drip lines
  • Pool and spa plumbing
  • Under driveways and patios
  • Wet spots and sinkholes
  • Meter spinning with everything off
  • Low pressure at the house
  • Water bill that jumped

How it works

How we find an underground leak

The line stays buried until we know exactly where to open it.

  1. Isolate at the meter

    Isolate at the meter

With the house shut off, the meter tells us whether the leak is on the service line or past the house valve.

  2. Pressure test the line

    Pressure test the line

The suspect run is pressurized on its own. How fast it drops tells us how big the leak is.

  3. Listen along the route

    Listen along the route

Electronic listening and tracer gas follow the line through soil, pavers and concrete to the loudest point.

  4. Mark it and write it up

Paint on the ground, depth and findings in your hand. Any contractor can open that one spot.

Good questions

Underground leak detection questions, answered.

Straight answers from the Aqua Doctor team. If you don't see your question, give us a call.

Pressure testing proves which line is leaking. Electronic listening and tracer gas then follow that line from the surface to the point where the sound or the gas is strongest. The ground is opened once, there.

Usually within a foot or two, and we give you the depth. If the line runs under concrete, the mark is still on the surface where the repair opens.

Same process. Listening works through concrete and pavers. The repair opens a small section there instead of guessing along the whole run.

Two to three hours for most yards. Long runs, multiple zones and irrigation systems take longer.

Yes. Every detection comes with written findings and photos showing where the leak is and what failed the test. Builders, warranty companies and adjusters get what they need.

Detection is a flat fee, quoted before we come out, based on what is being tested. Repairs are priced separately once the leak is found, and nothing starts without your approval.
